Congratulations on your graduation, Kristen!
Thank you for your hard work and all the best in your professional career.
Kristen and Yehor present their research at e 6th KU-NDSU Joint Symposium on Biotechnology, Nanomaterials, and Polymers (KNJ2021) hold online on November 22-23. This event is organized in collaboration between North Dakota State University and Kagoshima University since 2015 .
Kristen’s research poster is entitled “Synergistic Behavior of Zein, Soy Protein, and Plant Oil-Based Latexes. A Combined Computational and Experimental Approach”, and Yehor’s poster presentation title is is “Biobased Grafted Copolymers for Food Packaging Paper Modification”.
For more details http://www.cb.kagoshima-u.ac.jp/symposium/program.html.
Yehor Polunin presents his 3rd year graduate seminar.
Yehor’s presentation is entitled “Biobased Grafted Copolymers for Food Packaging Paper Modification”. This is collaborative research between Clemson University, University of Georgia and our group sponsored by Sonoco Products company.
Dr. Vasylyna Kirianchuk from Lviv Polytechnic National University joins our group in November, October to work for about 4 months as Visiting Scientist .
She has been working at our group in CPM for several times already during 2016-2020. Vasylyna will be working on a project related to plant oil-based adhesives
Kristen Patnode successfully defended her Masters dissertation entitled “Advancing Plant Protein-Based Proteoposite Films Targeted for Food Packaging Applications: A Combined Computational and Experimental Approach”
Kristen joined our group at Coatings and Polymeric Materials Department in January 2020. She obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry in May 2020.
Congratulations, Kristen, on successful defense, thank you for your work and all the best in your future professional career.
In August 16, 2021, new graduate students Tetiana Shevtsova and Bohdan Domnich started their PhD study in our group at Coatings and Polymeric Materials Department.
Tetiana and Bohdan received their Bachelor of Chemical Technology degree in 2019 and Master of Chemical Technologies of Food Supplements and Cosmetics in 2021, both from Lviv Polytechnic National University in Lviv, Ukraine.
Both Tetiana and Bohdan participated in CPM USURE program (during summer 2019 and winter 2020, respectively) .
Tetiana’s current research is focused on protein-based bioplastics films development. While Bohdan is working on a project related to plant oil-based latex adhesives.
Svitlana Trotsenko who was working as Research Associate at Department of Physics, Institute of Experimental Physics of Free University Berlin, Germany joins our group in February to work for about 5 months as Visiting Scientist .
Svitlana got her BS in Chemical Engineering from Lviv Polytechnic National University in Lviv, Ukraine and worked as Research Associate at Department of Organic Chemistry of the same institution before she was hired by FU Berlin. This is Svitlana’s first time at NDSU. Her current research project at NDSU relates to synthesis of plant oil-based latex adhesives using miniemulsion process with a goal of developing latexes formulations feasible for industrial applications .
Former member of our group Zoriana Demchuk is awarded 2021 Industrial Oil Products Division of American Oil Chemists Society (AOCS) Student Excellence Award for demonstrating her academic achievements and extracurricular accomplishments in the professional field. The award consists of a certificate, a US $500 honorarium and an award lecture as part of the 2021 AOCS Annual Meeting and Expo. Zoriana’s presentation is entitled The Sustainable Synthesis of Monomers and Latex Polymers Derived from Renewable Plant Oils and will be presented online during 2021 AOCS Annual Meeting, May, 3-14.
Zoriana Demchuk graduated with PhD degree in November, 2020 and is currently working as Postdoctoral Research Associate in Soft Materials Group of Chemical Sciences Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Knoxville, TN.
